POLK CITIZENS FOR GOOD GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES WEBSITE

 

Group Advocates"Yes" Vote On County Amendments 1, 2, 3

Bartow, FL - Polk Citizens for Good Government, a countywide coalition of community, business, agriculture and civic groups and leaders committed to supporting three charter changes that are on the November 2008 General Election ballot, has launched their website http://www.voteyesforpolk.org/.

This website was created to provide information on the benefits of supporting Polk County Amendments 1, 2, 3.  Amendment One will eliminate costly special elections and require future issues be voted on in general elections only.  Amendments Two and Three will require a 60% approval of the voters on all charter amendments or proposed initiative ordinances.

Polk Citizens for Good Government supports all three amendments and believes that these initiatives will protect the Polk County Charter, will ensure that there is more voter participation on important issues by having them on the ballot during general elections, will require that issues which are presented to voters to be clear and simple, and will save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.
