Sam is very active in local community, and serves as Advisory Board Member of Platinum Bank of Polk County, Chairman of Polk Committee for Effective Government, Vice Chairman of Polk County Efficiency Committee, Co-Chair Florida Chamber Regional Action Council, Polk County Chair of Floridians for Smarter Growth, and a founding member and Director of Florida and Puerto Rico for the Southeast Society for the Trenchless Technology (SESTT).

He is also a founding member of Sharon Shrine Temple in Longview, Texas and the International Pipe Bursting Group for the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO).   He is a member of Fort Meade Chamber of Commerce, Lake Wales Chamber of Commerce, Orlando Chamber of Commerce, Sebring Chamber of Commerce, Winter Haven Chamber Business Trustee Group, Orlando Chamber Business Force, Polk County Builders Association Government Affairs Committee, Masonic Lodge in Auburndale and the Egypt Shrine Temple in Tampa.


Sam has served as past Director of East Polk County Committee of 100 and as past Chairman of Lakeland Chamber Government Affairs Committee, Winter Haven Chamber Legislative Committee, and Goodwill Industries Heart of Florida.  He has also acted as past President of Winter Haven Chamber and Florida Citrus Showcase as well as past Board Member of MyRegion.org.


Sam and his wife Eileen were both born and raised in Polk County.  Eileen is a Middle School Principal and has been in the school system for 30 years.  They have two sons and five daughters they call theirs as well as two grandchildren.  They also have six Cavalier King Charles Spaniels dogs and do rescue and fostering with a group called www.luckystarcavalierrescue.org.
